Silk fabric To remove stains from silk, add half a cup of mild detergent and two teaspoons of white vinegar to two quarts of cold water. Do not soak the material in the solution. Rinse well and then roll to the garment in a towel and iron while it is still damp.
Linen and cotton fabric To remove stains such as soft drink, alcoholic beverages, ketchup and chili sauce, soak the fabric in cold water for thirty minutes. Wash with soap or detergent and rinse. To remove oil-based stains such as butter, mayonnaise, margarine, and oil; rub soap or detergent into the fabric and rinse in warm water. To remove protein stains such as milk, eggs, ice cream, baby food, blood; soak the fabric in cold water with detergent. Rinse in bold water. If necessary, repeat the steps. To remove cosmetic and mustard stains rub detergent into the stain and rinse. If the stain is still there, repeat the procedure as many times as needed to remove it. To remove stains of red wine, juice, fruit, coffee, and tea wash in hot water. You may also try to bleach out the stain with lemon juice and salt. Let the fabric dry under the sun.
Leather and suede fabric To remove stains from leather, use a moisturizing soap. Lather the soap on a soft cloth and wash the bag to remove dirt and grime. Be careful not to over-wet the leather, and do not rinse after washing. Buffing with a soft cloth allows the moisturizing soap to condition the leather. Polish as usual. |
